SÉSAME, OUVRE-TOI
The automatic door activation control is frequently not adapted for every individual in society due to their height being very high or low and distance being far or too close to the door. Occasionally, the push button is too hard to locate and at times not functional. “Sésame is a device integrated to the existing automatic door activation system that is able to detect a person’s presence within its radius. The system detects a harmless chip carried by the individual when the person approaches and send the signal to open the door,” says Catherine Blanchette-Dallaire. In addition, the door will remain open as long as the person is in the door way which prevents injuries.
THE COMPETITION
The Coopérathon is a collaborative approach that helps stimulate team interactions and creation of partnerships to develop innovative solutions. The Sésame, ouvre-toi project is in the “Montreal, Smart and Digital City” category which has an objective to improve the quality of life of individuals with reduced mobility and elderly individuals by optimizing mobility and developing urban accessibility
More then 96 different projects were submitted in 3 different categories (Health, FinTech and Smart City). 43 projects were presented at the semi-final and only 15 will compete for the first prize this Friday November 4, 2016 at the Complexe Desjardins.
